New members evening (and bat walk)
April 30 @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm
For new members, old members, potential members, anyone who wants to find out more about what the group gets up to, and how to get involved, whether that’s with surveys, box checks, bat care, leading bat walks or just learning more about bats. There will also be a short committee meeting immediately beforehand, starting at 19:00.
After we’ve covered summer projects, public engagement, bat care, NBMP surveys, training & licensing, etc., if the weather is suitable we’ll head down to the Whiteknights lake with bat detectors to see what bats we can find – there are usually good views of at least three species, sometimes more. In the event of poor weather there will be some education bats on show, if Covid guidelines permit.
The meeting room is on the 1st floor of Park House, building 8 on the Whiteknights campus map https://www.reading.ac.uk/about/visit-us.aspx. Getting to the Whiteknights campus from the town centre by bus is easy https://www.reading.ac.uk/about/visit-us. If driving, the postcode RG6 6UR will get you on to campus but not to the right building so we recommend using what3words ///return.factories.slows for the entrance to campus, then ///hails.hogs.jacket for the car park and ///echo.hats.tidy for the pedestrian entrance to Park House. Parking is unrestricted after 5pm, the closest car park is number 55 on the map.
